Master

Renan Santiago (pronouns: he/him) is a Master of Arts graduate in Game Studies, a program housed within the Department of Digital Humanities at Brock University. Renan’s research focuses on the representation of queer, trans, and gender-diverse characters in video games, with particular attention to how multimodal semiotic analysis can inform the design of inclusive narratives. Renan currently works as a Research Assistant, where his most recent research investigates how newcomer and foreign youth navigate digital technologies to find support in the Niagara region, Canada. In addition, he is involved with INQYR as a Research Assistant, as well as coordinating design and communication initiatives. His future research includes the development of the Queer Video Game Character Atlas, an AI-assisted encyclopedia and dataset that documents and analyzes queer representation across video games.
