Anthony Verdino

Anthony P. Verdino, LCSW (He/Him) Doctoral Student, Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, University of Chicago; Psychotherapist Anthony has completed a Master of Arts degree in Psychology at CUNY John Jay College and a Master of Social Work degree at Loyola University Chicago. He has continued to engage in direct practice for twenty years across various settings and levels of care primarily with Queer communities, adolescents and young adults, people living with HIV/AIDS, and kink, poly, and non-monogamous communities. As a generalist clinician, he utilizes a pluralist approach which allows him to adapt to the unique needs of each person and ensure that the work is grounded and practical. Informed by his practice, Anthony’s research focuses on the ways that queer young people, especially those with mental health concerns, express, create, and make meaning of joy, desire, and pleasure in their lives. In doing so, he hopes to centre their wisdom, emotional work, and the powerful ways that they navigate a deficient and iniquitous world. In addition, he aims to push scholarship beyond binary notions of risk and resilience.
