Dr. Roxanna Ast
Discipline: Social Work and Social Policy
Dr. Roxanna Ast (she/her/او) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work and Child Advocacy at Montclair State University, NJ, USA. Her teaching and research focus on macro social work, structural quality of life, violence prevention, and equity-centered policy impacting sexual and gender minoritized communities. Prior to academia, Dr. Ast served as a gender-based violence prevention researcher for the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, collaborating with the CDC and grassroots organizations to address disparities in trauma-informed care. Her work has received several awards including from the Melissa Institute for Violence Prevention and Treatment as well as the emerging scholar IIDEA (Inclusion, Intersectionality, Diversity, Equity, and Advancement) research award. Dr. Ast holds a PhD and MSW from Rutgers University–New Brunswick, an MSc from the University of Glasgow, and a BA from Guilan University.
