Dane Rivas-Koehl

Dane Rivas - Koehl (he/him) is a PhD student in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Dane also holds a master’s degree from Texas Tech University in Human Development and Family Sciences and a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Communications. His primary work focuses on understanding the lives of LGBTQ+ families and individuals from intersectional, feminist, and queer-theorized lenses with a goal to work towards applied impact in communities. Currently, he is working with his advisor, Dr. Courtney Cuthbertson, on mixed methods project about LGBTQ+ farmer mental health in the US. Dane also serves as a board member and LGBTQ+ competency trainer for Uniting Pride of Champaign County, an LGBTQ+ serving non-profit for central Illinois.
