In June 2021, we held a Canada-based global classroom titled, Social Work Practice with LGBTQIA Populations. The classroom focused on competent Canadian clinical and community practice with LGBTQIA+ groups and individuals across two INQYR regions, the U.K. and Mexico. We invited practitioners and researchers to speak about the cultural context of practice with LGBTQ+ populations within each country, sharing models, theories, and stories.
METHODOLOGY + RECRUITMENT
This study uses photo elicitation in qualitative interviews. Photo elicitation is used to generate discussion through art selected and/or created by researchers or participants. This approach can increase engagement and help address concerns about the need to seek the perspectives of autistic GMY when examining their experiences. Previous studies suggest the use of visual methods reduces ASD youth research participation anxiety whilst providing tangible memory recall prompts and aiding communication.
